Bach flower therapy is an established herbal treatment for health problems in humans In this therapy, small amounts of a remedy are administered, which can cure mental or physical disease. Cats too can sometimes feel unwell and suffer from physical or mental problems. So could cats benefit from this herbal treatment as well?

The herbal treatment of a cat is very similar to the treatment of a human. However, your cat can’t tell you how it feels, so it is very important to take some time to observe your pet’s behavior. Every cat has its own personality, and can convey different emotions. You are the best person to observe your cat’s body language. It is important to let the veterinarian know how your cat’s behavior differs from normal. Then you can agree together on a suitable herbal treatment.

There are several health problems that can be successfully treated in cats using Bach flower remedies, for example, skin disorders, behavioral problems, anxiety, and allergies Some common remedies that can be used with cats are the remedy ‘Star of Bethlehem’ when the animal is upset, Vervain’ for a hypersensitive cat, and Walnut flower’ when your cat is adjusting to a new situation, for example, after moving house, or when there is a new addition to the family. You can simple add the remedies to your cat’s drinking water, or you can mix it into the food.

The core principle of herbal medicine for cats is that you are treating the ‘complete’ animal: mind, body, and soul. Alternative therapies are designed to restore the natural balance, and to promote the self-healing capabilities of your pet. These therapies are suitable for both younger and older cats. Animals respond well to alternative medicine, supposedly, because they are closer to nature than humans. Because herbal medicine is completely natural, it has the added benefit of being better for the environment.

Some may argue that the effectiveness of herbal medicine hasn’t been scientifically proven. Nevertheless, many cat owners have experienced positive results with herbal treatments. It may take some time to find the right remedy for your cat, because each cat is different, and just like humans, their unique constitution requires a unique treatment. Alternative medicine can’t save lives, but it can successfully treat a large number of health problems, and it can help support your cat through serious illness.

When people give their dogs a treat, it’s frequently the same kind of things that they enjoy eating and drinking themselves. After all, what harm can it do occasionally? Sadly, although you mean it as a reward it can often make your dog unwell. A dog’s digestive system is very different to that of a human’s and the wrong food can cause anything from short-term discomfort to serious long-term harm.

A quick look at a list of what you might think is usually OK will reveal things you shouldn’t be offering your faithful friend at all. What’s more you have to be strict with yourself. Your dog trusts you completely and believes that anything you offer is safe, simply because it comes from you.

Milk Products

Although all mammals have milk at first, they grow out of it eventually. Your canine friend quickly develops to a point where they can’t actually process the lactose (a kind of sugar) which is present in all dairy product. In the stomach that sugar begins to ferment, becoming a form of alcohol. Your dog is likely to suffer stomach pain and possibly diarrhoea.

Cheese and yogurt also contain lactose and although you can find lactose-free products (because some people are lactose intolerant), why give your pet something that has no benefit? If you want to give your dog a drink they would prefer plain water!

Fruit
Although your dog is a carnivore (nature gave them those teeth for cutting through meat) many dog foods contain vegetables as well, primarily for added vitamins and minerals. If you buy dog food from a reputable manufacturer and It contains vegetables, that’s fine. The same is not true of fruit.

While the vitamin C in fruit is beneficial, most fruit also contains citric acid which is likely to cause your dog intestinal discomfort. Bananas contain potassium which in large amounts can cause heart problems Raisins and grapes have recently been linked to potential kidney failure. Nuts must also be included in this section because, just like in some people, they can cause surprisingly violent and dangerous reactions.

In the puppy stage of a pet dog life you should know that there is a lot of feeding for your puppy from his birth up to the 6 months of age. They are supposed to eat that much because they are in the process of growing which generally stops at the 7 months of aging. What your puppy needs the most for a healthy growing should be contained in food, and these components are: vitamins, minerals, fats and proteins.

But when you reach for buying food, you will find that many brands come with their different ingredients although many standards for good qualitative food should be complied with. Unfortunately not all the producing companies follow these standards and as a result you can end up buying something that is not healthy for your puppy or helps him in the process of healthy and natural growth.

So, you should pay more attention to what you buy when being inside pet food stores, because most of the times the cheapest types of foods can be as well poor in nutritional value. One criterion that should guide you to the right food is to look for puppy food and not dog food even if it mentioned for the specific breed of your puppy. It is important to get the food that is specifically mentioned as puppy food. This type of food comes always with extra nutrients that ensure a normal growth of your puppy. There is as well that type of food designed for all stages of life which you can as well purchase for the well being of your puppy.

If your puppy is of a larger size breed, the food that you get for him will ensure a gradual growth enough to let your puppy bones and joints to develop stronger and healthier. If your puppy is of smaller size then the food will be specially designed to ensure your puppy the necessary nutritional value in small. For the medium sized breeds amounts assisting to creating the right metabolism for a good growing process. As to the medium sized breeds, your puppy will have to consume the type of food that is in the middle of the formulas described above.

How can you know that your puppy is eating enough, meaning enough that he needs for a well growing? The first thing that you need to check for after feeding him is to be able to sense his ribs by touching but not seeing them. The waist can be also visible when you look down from the height of your eyes. Whenever you buy the food you will have instructions on how much to feed your puppy and it is recommended that you follow these instructions.

By the time your pet dog reaches 12 weeks you must ensure him at least three meals per day. It is not a must to feed him that often, it is more convenient for you to feed him twice then this schedule is also good. In this case, just make sure that he gets the necessary intake of nutrients when he is fed with only 2 meals per day.
